A common complaint that we receive is "why can't my GIS maps look as good as Kroll Maps?"  Since the GIS maps rely on mostly data base driven routines for text placement, coupled with the fact that GIS layers originate from various sources, it is very difficult to match the competent eye of a good cartographer.  This example represents a map compiled for a local county elections department that clearly shows all of the precincts, precinct numbers, and street annotation.  This map is more than attractive colors and symbols - it is an effective tool that performs a critical task with regard to the election of public officials.

The Port of Seattle required a map illustrating the noise remediation zones for the Seattle - Tacoma Airport.  This map need to be supplied in a form the could be used in presentations as well as efficiently mailed out to residents requesting copies.

The ability to supply existing base maps to build such custom maps greatly reduces the cost to local utilities and government.  The use of high quality cartography greatly enhances the quality of the spatial information you wish to communicate.

Emergency services need map products that are legible and reliable.  The Seattle Police Department requested that their GIS files be converted to a Kroll layer that correlates to our traditional street mapping.  Besides clearly illustrating the police beats, the precinct boundaries are highlighted with shading.

The City of Seattle Public Utilities has zones that define their areas of service.  Kroll maintains custom overlays to our mapping that clearly outlines those zones.  These files can easily be revised and are available upon request for City of Seattle Departments.
